My highs and lows of 2005, from a post on boards…

    Highs

    • in LA for E3 again, then including Shanghai making it around the world before home
    • back to the US for 24 hours of NYC, then to DC for a wedding in Maryland
    • a few weeks ago, I move out of the family
home (22, so it’s was about time)
    • finally getting a credit card
    • getting broadband before the end of the year (thank you Eircom)
    • Cycling to work every day
    • ALSO: Electric Picnic

    Lows

    • moving out, so…
    • bills soon to come…
    • trips around the world will hurt the pocket a good bit
    • thinking about the extra bills soon to come!
    • heating currently only working in the living room/kitchen part of my apartment

…At least not at home. The good news is my
phone line passed, but I was told for some reason (something about an engineer
setting something up at the exchange) I’ll have to wait until January 11 from
    1pm to
    use broadband.

    I’m still a little annoyed over eircom’s
upload speeds. Ok, ‘pissed’ is a better word.

UPDATE: Good news, I got the modem, and today, after trying and
failing on Thursday, the modem is getting a signal… it works!

    Got a new phone
line installed this morning in my apartment, ‘new’ as in the engineer
put a new wire from the street phone lines to a new phone socket
inside, went to the phone exchange (which happens to be a street away
from where I’m now living) then tested it. T
    hank you Mr Eircom Engineer.

Went to eircom.ie (using work’s BT bb) after it was installed,
done the broadband test on the site on my phone number, ‘failed’, ‘your
line is not suitable… blah blah…’. Phoned the engineer, after
explaining what I did, he said don’t mind it, the line is perfect and
there’s no reason for it to fail, to just phone sales on Monday and
say he what he said about the line, and failing that phone him back. Anyway,
    fingers crossed…
