J_apr08_cover1 The National Union of Journalists’ magazine, Journalist, has gone online, with at least the April edition only being distributed in digital form.

While the publication was previously only posted to NUJ members, it can now be viewed at thejournalist.org.uk.

A PDF version is also downloadable, and is designed for printing in A4.

Journalist describes the move as an “experiment”, but adds
that it is the first step to making the magazine and “integrated
publication, with complementary print and online versions”.

“This issue of the Journalist has not been printed, but distributed
only online. It’s an experiment to see how members want to receive
their magazine – and it’s part of a long-term debate on the future of
NUJ communications,” says a statement on thejournalist.org.uk.

It goes on to ask NUJ members if they would go to “a regularly
updated website or would you prefer to stick to a print magazine you
    can carry around?”

The site also contains an audio clip to complement the cover
interview, but it current lacks RSS feeds or other now standard
    elements news site.
