Click on the above image of text from newspaper and magizine websites - the image should open in a pop-up window. Which is the most readable?

The first is from an award winning newspaper site. This paper has one of the lowest national relationships in print, but the most visited newspaper websites in the UK.

That would be the Guardian. Incidentally the same size is used by the world’s most popular search engine. And that would be Google.

The second is used by the Irish Times, the Irish Independent, and the Irish Examiner.

While last example is the size used by the Sunday Business Post, the Sunday Tribune, and Village magizine, as well as some other websites.

In his book, ‘Up with the Times’, Connor Brady talks of a time in the past where the Irish Times
reduced the size of their newsprint so they could fit more onto pages.
It was to cut costs, but was very unpopular with readers.

There’s no excuses here for sites which use the extremely small text of the last example.

Larger text does not cost more. And please sack any web designers
who tells you it looks better - if they are saying such
things they should not be working on
    content-heavy newspaper or magizine sites.
